We Found the Sun!

At the beginning of the summer I had this hair-brained idea that I would just pack my kids up in the van and we would drive until we found some sun then set up camp.  When the sun moved, so would we.  One great adventure to the next.  Finally in August I made good on my threat, and then wished and wished I had done it earlier.  Austin, Carson, McKenna and I packed up the van and took off down the Columbia Gorge headed to the Tri-Cities to visit Grandma Marsha.  Marsha was just starting her chemotherapy and we wanted to see her before we had to start back into our school schedules and she got feeling too bad.  What a great time we had.  Austin and I got the tent up in no time.  McKenna and Carson helped set up the camp site; then we went to the grocery store to figure out what we could cook over our little camp fire and keep in our cooler.

The boys brought their fishing stuff and enjoyed fishing in the river while McKenna and I played games and made daisy chains. We woke up every morning to blue skies and sunshine, a sight we hadn't seen in Vancouver all summer long.  We soaked up the sunshine through the days and enjoyed nice clear dry nights around the fire.

Grandma tried to talk us into moving into a hotel when she found out Eric and Tanner hadn't come with us.  She was worried I was without enough "man-power."  I wouldn't have moved indoors for anything.  It was a great way to end to our summer.

It is really hard to see, but this was McKenna's longest daisy chain.  All those flowers are connected!
