Prom Season

Spring is here and so is Prom.  Austin went all out to ask Mandy to their high school prom and she returned the favor by asking him to LDS Prom.  That meant two weekends of prom festivities.

Weekend 1:  HIGH SCHOOL PROM

We were the after party for the high school prom.  Our Game room became an old fashioned ice cream parlor, equipped with music from the jukebox, made to order ice cream sundays and good old board games.

Weekend 2:  LDS PROM

A big thank you to my friend, Amy Morgan of Clouds in Bloom Photography (www.cloudsinbloom.com) for these amazing prom pictures.  I was busy preparing for dinner following the pictures.  For LDS Prom, our home was transformed into the black-tie restaurant for dinner before the dance.

Both weekends were lots of fun.  Everyone looked fabulous and both evenings turned out being a big success!

Sun Chasers

By April everyone in the Northwest is itching to see some sun, but it is still quite illusive.  This year for spring break we wanted to stay close but ensure that we would be able to enjoy the outdoors and sunshine.  We decided to book a cabin at Black Butte Ranch near Sisters, Oregon where we would be likely to see the blue sky and sunshine.  It was a great little spot and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  We were able to:

Enjoy the small town of Sisters during their music & art stroll weekend,

The Sorks with the Storks at the Sculpture Gallery in Sisters
Meet a master clock maker and help him finish his puzzle while we waited to hear all the clocks chime on the hour,

Play some family games, swim and hike,

Hiking to the headwaters of the Metolius River
Read and get plenty of rest.

Huckleberry milkshakes makes everyone smile!
Our stay there was too short and we are already looking for some time in the summer we can go back.

Austin Awaits His Call

Austin has been preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ever since he began to walk. The time has finally come.

In about two weeks Austin will be getting a letter from President Monson, telling him when and where he will be serving the Lord. Until we get those papers we are taking a poll: Where do you think Austin will serve his two-year church mission?

We know that no matter where Austin is called he will be an influence for good, change lives and be loved dearly by the people he serves.

You can follow his mission preparations and service, as well as take the poll on where you think he will be called at www.elderasork.blogspot.com.
