OCTOBER FUN!

BYU Women's Soccer - Yes, I guess I will finally admit I am a soccer fan.  It has happened.  My favorite team is whatever one my kids are playing on, but I enjoy watching even when they aren't playing.  Last year BYU's women's soccer team came to play Portland State.  Both teams were ranked top in the nation and I wanted to go see it so badly, but I couldn't get anyone in my family to go with me.  This year when they came back, Carson said he would go.  We had a great time.  Thanks for being my date, Carson!

For Halloween I had a master class for my piano students where they had to dress up in something that represented the song they were performing.  This is a fun bunch of kids and I really enjoy being able to help them develop a talent that will bring them so much joy their whole life
(even if they don't recognize that right now).

XC Season

I didn't know if I would have another Cross Country (XC) runner in the house once Tanner left, but found myself with two of them this year.  McKenna was bound and determined to find something all her friends could do together.  Not all of them were dancers and not all of them played soccer.  This specializing into groups amongst her friends really bothered McKenna, thus she brainstormed the idea that they could all do XC together.  Everyone thought that was a great idea until the actual season started and they actually had to run.  Though it didn't turn out like McKenna had envisioned, she had a great time running, went all the way to the district level, made lots of new friends and stayed in great shape through the fall for dance.

Carson was having a very hard time deciding between soccer or XC for the fall season.  I told him he could try both just this once so he could decide.  Had I known he was going to make the varsity team at the high school, I never would have said that.  It made for a very busy fall, and he and I both had a few melt downs over it.  We won't be doing that again, but are pleased Carson did so well his first year on the high school team.  It was sure a flashback to Tanner's first year running varsity as a freshman.  Carson hit everyone on the starting line at the elbows just like Tanner did.  I was afraid he was going to get run over by the men he was running against.  Carson's team made it all the way to regionals and he earned his varsity letter.
